Our Rector Our Rector is Revd. Derek C Sargent. He was born in Dublin in 1966, lived in Dundrum, and was educated at Taney National School, Sandford Park School, St. John’s College Nottingham, Trinity College, Dublin, and The Open University. He is married to Breda, who also grew up in Dundrum, and they have three children Rebekah (8), David and Luke (6) - the twins.

Following his theological training in the Church of Ireland Theological College and Trinity College Dublin, he was made deacon for the Waterford Group of Parishes in June 1999. After two and a half years he was instituted as Vicar to the same Group of Parishes with responsibility for the three parishes of Dunmore East, Annestown and Tramore.

After a year and a half as Vicar he was instituted as Rector of Clontarf. The institution was on the Feast of St. James, 25th July 2003, in our Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, Seafield Road West.

Youth and Children’s Pastor Susan Connolly is our Youth and Children’s Pastor. Susan, who is twenty-one and is originally from Greystones, County Wicklow, joined the ministry team in May 2006 and has really enjoyed her work here in Clontarf.

Susan trained with Greg Fromholz of 3Rock Youth, the Dublin and Glendalough youth initiative, learning leadership skills and how to run a youth program, as well as running events such as Essential at Christchurch Cathedral. The experience she has gained over the last three years has proven invaluable in the work that she is now doing with the youth and children of Clontarf.
